Thanks For The Great Review, Carl

Exceptional service, waitstaff is quick, courteous and efficient.  Busboys on the ball with filling our waters, nice demeanor and fast removal of completed dishes.

Our table of 4 ordered a empanada sampler along with a complimentary papa criolla (small potato bites) with dipping sauce.  Fast fast fast service and execution with our somewhat complex drinks (ginger caiprahina, diet mojitios, coconut mojitios), all 4 drinks were perfect.  The main course we ordered, the classic yet satisfying arroz con pollo, the staple of Colombian cuisine was fantastic, I ordered the skirt steak with a side salad.  Very generous portions for the price, ate half took half home.

As a frequent visitor and fan of Bogota I am always greeted on a firt name basis, aside from the fact that there are over 125 people In the restaurant, the staff, managers take the time to greet you and address any needs you may have which in most cases are none because bogota is always on the ball with service.  Til next time, thank you.

A Mojito for Two

In The Heat Of The Night…A Mojito For Two

Bogota Bistro's signature drink: Mojito

In the heat of the night....Mojitos

A mojito is traditionally made of five ingredients: white rum, sugar (traditionally sugar cane juice), lime, carbonated water and mint. When preparing a mojito, lime juice is added to sugar (or syrup) and mint leaves. The mixture is then gently mashed with a muddler. The mint leaves should only be bruised to release the essential oils and must not be shredded. Then rum is added and the mixture is briefly stirred to dissolve the sugar and to lift the mint sprigs up from the bottom for better presentation. Finally, the drink is topped with ice cubes and sparkling water, and mint leaves and lime wedges are used to garnish the glass. Here’s a video demonstration brought to you by Bacardi.

Try one at home or come by tonight.  Bogota Latin Bistro offers $5 happy hour priced classic mojitos all night every Monday and Tuesday. Make your reservation online now.

Salud!

Texting While Eating

Blackberry

Are you willing to stop texting while eating?

A new Zagat survey found that 67% of diners in L.A. and 61% in New York think it’s inappropriate to be “texting, checking e-mail or talking on the phone” while eating at a restaurant.  Add to that engaging with social media such as updating Facebook accounts, twittering and ‘checking in’ on various social media platforms.

Social media seems to have replaced being social even when out to dinner.  How many times do friends make plans to get together and catch up only to spend a good portion of the evening texting?

People Fall In Love Here
January 8, 2010

Hello Bogota,

About three years ago, February 2007, a beautiful young woman and I went out for a wonderful dinner at Bogota Bistro. I had asked the woman, who at the time was a casual friend to join me for a dinner at a great restaurant that I had just discovered in Park Slope, Brooklyn. I was a young man at the time, who was falling madly in love with this woman, who happened to be Colombian, and from Bogota. Looking for a way to impress her, it seemed natural to take her to dinner at an establishment that she felt comfortable within, and there was no better place than Bogota Bistro.

The night was wonderful, we laughed, talked, ate great food, listened to excellent music, took in the mesmerizing art work and really made a connection with each other. The evening flew by so fast that in fact the staff had to make us aware that the restaurant was closing and that we were the last patrons. Fast forward two years, and that beautiful young woman is now my wife who recently gave birth to a beautiful baby girl two months ago.

Whenever my wife and I look back at our time together and how our relationship progressed into a wonderful marriage, the memories of Bogota Bistro are always prevalent within our minds. My wife always makes the comment that when I asked her to dinner that night, she was expecting the traditional Italian restaurant or American steak house, but was completely blown away when I told her that we were going to eat at a Colombian restaurant, that to top it off is the name of the city where she was born, Bogota.

So, I just wanted to send you guys a big Thank-You for being such an important part of our lives, for giving us great memories and for putting a smile on our face every time we reminisce. Keep up the good work and Happy New Year!

Regards,
JF
